Kyle Shappee will be the new principal at Explorer Middle School. He was previously the principal at Copper Canyon Elementary School. Mr. Shappee joined the PVSchools family in 1994 and has held the following positions: teacher on assignment/Title I coordinator, assistant principal and teacher. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix, Master of Education degree in Elementary Education from ASU and a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership with Distinction/Graduate Certificate of Principal from NAU.
Teresa Simmons was named the new principal at Fireside Elementary School. She was previously the principal at Arrowhead Elementary School. Ms. Simmons joined the PVSchools family in 1996 as a teacher and also worked as a teacher on assignment prior to being named principal in 2009. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary/Special Education from ASU, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from NAU and completed a Principal Administrative Internship Program from the University of Phoenix.
Chad Lanese was named the new principal at Pinnacle High School. Since 2010, he has been the principal at Desert Cove Elementary School. He began his teaching career in 1998 in the Glendale Elementary School District. He has also worked for Peoria Unified School District. Mr. Lanese earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from the University of Arizona (UA) and a Master of Arts degree in Bilingual Education from ASU. He is currently working toward a Doctorate degree.
Erin Vranesh was named the new principal at Wildfire Elementary School. She was previously the teacher on assignment/administrative intern at Fireside Elementary School. During her career, she held teaching positions in PVSchools and the Peoria Unified School District. Mrs. Vranesh earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts degree in education Leadership from NAU.
Sarah Torrilhon came to Desert Trails with 17 years of experience in education. Last year, she was the Assistant Principal at both Boulder Creek and Sonoran Sky Elementary Schools. Prior to administration, she was a classroom teacher in Paradise Valley Unified School District and Scottsdale Unified School District where she taught grades 6th, 1st, 2nd, PreKindergarten, infants, and Self-Contained Gifted. Mrs. Torrilhon also worked as an online curriculum developer. She has her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and her Master’s degrees in Curriculum & Instruction and Educational Administration; Sarah also holds her Early Childhood and Gifted Endorsements. Mrs. Torrilhon is elated to bring her skills as an educational leader to Desert Trails and to work with you in partnership.
