From the Lifestyles Chair

Tis truly the season for all our Desert Ridge residents to count our blessings, to give generously from our hearts to others, and to take the time to enjoy various fall events, activities, and festivities in the community, which is what makes Desert Ridge the best place to live, work and play. As you look through this issue of the magazine you will see all the pages filled with many of our signature fall and holiday events with something for everyone, including our residents returning for the winter in the desert.

Farmers Market

The Desert Ridge Lifestyles Committee in partnership with SKB Companies and M&M Events are proud to announce that the Farmers Market is returning this fall to High Street on the 3rd Sundays from October 2017 through April 2018. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come and enjoy this unique experience with fresh produce from 2 local farmers, a variety of specialty foods, crafts and much more at this unique market. The October Farmers Market will also have a Pumpkin Patch, so come and select a dandy pumpkin to carve while at the market.

Trunk or Treat and Movie Night in the Park

What a wonderful time of the season to enjoy both Halloween Trunk or Treat and our featured film, Despicable Me 2, under the stars with your family, neighbors and friends. We will have Trunk or Treat and the Movie in the Park at Cashman Park, Saturday, October 28, 2017. The Trunk or Treat sponsored by Desert City Church will be from 6 pm to 8 pm, and the Movie in the Park will begin at 7 pm. Come donned in your favorite Halloween costume and join us for the fun on the inflatables slides and bounce houses as you enjoy, hot dogs, cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn and sweet treats complimentary of Desert Ridge Community Association, Desert City Church, Urban Tactical Services and the Fireside PTO event partners and sponsors.

Ladies Night Out

The Lifestyles Committee has a monthly Ladies Night Out from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the second Monday of every month October 2017 through April 2018. This social event is a wonderful time for our ladies in the community to relax, meet and mingle with their neighbors, friends, and make new acquaintances at various restaurants in the community.

Coffee Club

The Coffee Club is an informal gathering and breakfast setting of community members to discuss matters of common interest and concerns while also being provided with community updates from the Desert Ridge management team, Community Action Officer, board members and community partners.  The Coffee Club is sponsored by AAA Landscape here at the Desert Ridge Community Association office, at 9 a.m. on the second Tuesday of every other month.  Join us on Tuesday, October 10th to discuss matters of interest and concern to you and your community.

Sports Night Out

Formerly known as our Community Night Out, we’ll introduce to you Sports Night Out. It is an opportunity to meet with friends and neighbors every third Tuesday of October, January, and March to enjoy major sporting events.

Mega Community-Wide Yard Sale  

The Lifestyles Committee will have it last Mega Community-Wide Yard Sale of this calendar year on November 4, 2017, from
7 a.m. to 2 p.m. All unwanted items such as clothing, shoes, furniture, books, electronics, and more can also be donated to the Goodwill of Central Arizona. Please see the flyer in this issue or go to for more information.

Veterans Day Appreciation Breakfast

The Desert Ridge Lifestyles Committee celebrates this special day we recognize all veterans of every branch at a breakfast ceremony at Mimi’s Café Desert Ridge on Friday, November 10th from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. If you are a Desert Ridge resident that have honored us all through your service in the armed forces, including active duty servicemen and servicewomen, please join us with your family members at Mimi’s Café complimentary of the Desert Ridge Community Association.

Holiday Lighting & Decorating Contest

Our Lifestyles Committee will be hosting our Tenth Annual Holiday Lighting and Decorating Contest and the Holiday Trolley Tours.  This signature event is one our yearly favorites and has experienced a decade of continued success. We look forward to judging the holiday decorations and lights and recognizing our Desert Ridge residents for their beautiful holiday creativity, spirit and artistry. Holiday Trolley Tours

The Desert Ridge Holiday Trolley Tours will depart from and return to the southeast corner of High Street and 54th Street.  There will be a total of four (4) days of trolley tours with (3) trolleys departing for approximately a 60-minute tour of the community holiday decorations and lighting at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. during each of the 4 nights.  Additional event details and ticket information are available in this magazine and on the community website at
